The problem of Theodicy –
with wisdom and its power to resolve
The work I present in formulating my argument must be
understood that to all degrees I use wisdom to uncover the truths that face the
mind of human beings in rationalizing an issue or problem that may seem to
evade us without personal position of conflict in interest. I therefore, submit
to the full authority of all my reading on biblical accounts and it’s highly
favored stance taken to all biblical texts to make it the authority, with a personal
degree of resolving any issues of irony or even contradictive statements as it
may seem from one party to the text.
So, I will begin with Theodicy in this light:
Defining the statement: If God is a good God, and He is
almighty, why does evil exist?
I will reckon the content of theodicy on few main points
that can grapple very quickly with the reality that faces us here on earth –
the problem of evil.
1.
The evils presented to us in life as humans
2.
Where does it come from
3.
Why has it come
4.
What is the view on God, and does it contradict
His status of Almighty?
1.
The evils presented, are the issues of poverty,
hunger, murder, rape, abortion, adultery, divorce, pain, sadness etc.
2.
It is evident that evil cannot come from God, as
God is good. But then, it causes us to question if God has made all things and
created everything, and He is indeed good, where does evil come from? In
grappling with such a question causes something controversial in establishing
our thinking, we begin to contend with the characteristics of God, basing an
evil as bad and deriving to a conclusion that God cannot be good, because this
evil exists. So, our paradigm of thinking has done two things, it caused a
model of what is good, and it has made our level of good as the benchmark of
who God must be, to fit our description of that good. In answering the question
then of evil, cannot be resolved in creating a plumb for good in our eyes, as
it corrupts the model in the sense that we see things in a limited view point
of a life time on earth – that being 70 – 80 years. Good, cannot be restricted
to a time span, good must be eternal, good must be unhindered by things that
can die, and are temporal. Our model then of good based on these ideas begins
to take a different shape. Where has evil come from then? It is a subject
matter that contends good, in a temporary space of time, until it can no longer
contend and disappears forever. Where has the subject matter come from? It has
come from a place that establishes good and creates the distinction so clear
that good must reign forever. The subject matter of evil, comes from a refining
process, where evil is tested and found wanting. It is found where a pre-empted order is
established in order to find a disorder, in the elements of the order to create
a final and conclusive order. It is found, from seemingly a good practice of
creating life, to kick away elements that are by-waste products to now make
something absolutely worthy. In order to remove this impurity, the refiner
(God) knew the waste must be removed before he started the work of creation and
while making the things created – He had in mind the conclusive result of then
removing the impurity.
3.
Why has it come? It is the wisdom of God to
cause evil to reign with good, in order to solve the full completion of the
world founded and create on an eternal destination of paradise. It is has come
through wisdom. Many questions would have been posed to the validity of the
world in the presence of life, with no gained understanding to the world we
have and live in. This path to understanding needed, essence of mind, body and
soul. These 3 things engage very well with the grasping the essence of
everything and it was made in the image of God – He molded in us. These
criteria are critical in understanding and creating a life eternal.
4.
With this
question we are left with a power of choice. My choice is to serve the living
God and believe in His awesome plan of salvation in His One and only Son Jesus
Christ, who is the reason why we can believe in God and trust in Him fully. He knows
everything from start to finish. God has not forced his love or plan on us, but
His wisdom tells us that there is everlasting torment and gnashing of teeth for
them who reject His plan of salvation and ignore or simply reject the Holy
Spirit.
